Primary Purpose:  
The Data Analyst will conduct analyses in collaboration with the rest of the Data Analytics Team using data both internal and external to Uplift. The analyst will also provide support to schools and senior leadership to help leaders act on the data analysis provided.  This will include supporting teachers and school leaders, providing support, training and documentation as needed.  This will also include having a deep understanding of Uplift’s data model and processes and being a subject matter expert in these areas.
The Data Analytics Team resides in the Academic Team department which includes Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment, Academic Support, Road to College & Career, School Management.  The Data Analytics Team provides support to stakeholders across the organization, with our primary focus being campus-based instructional staff.  As a member of the Data Analytics Team, we collaborate with each group within the Academic Team to produce tools and analytics to best support campus-based staff and the organization.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and evaluate stakeholder requests to determine needs
  • Support/train stakeholders on effective use of data systems/tools and interpreting of data from assessments and other data collection tools
  • Build interactive dashboards as a means for stakeholders to interact with data and analysis.
  • Develop algorithms to identify students and teachers needing assistance in learning or teaching
  • Work in concert with Data Analytics Team in the structuring of data through building tables, views, stored procedures, and SQL queries
  • Work with Uplift’s Academic Team to evaluate best teaching strategies based on data
  • Use data to monitor the results of assessment data and assist stakeholders with analysis of the results and assist with the design, implementation, and measurement of focused intervention.
  • Participate in planning, needs analysis and risk assessment; consults with teachers on how to best support their data use through the effective use of technology
  • Keep abreast of all new development in areas of data analysis and disseminate necessary information to all stakeholders.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders to analyze information needs and functional requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Education, Experience, and/or Certification(s)
  • Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree - applicable major preferred (Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, or a Quantitative Social Science)
  • Experience Requirements
    • 2 or more years’ experience with data analysis or business intelligence (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, Google Data Studio, MicroStrategy, etc.)
    • Proven understanding of relational database concepts
    • Experience developing process documentation
    • Experience in applied statistics and value-added analysis
    • Experience in data analysis and problem solving with large amounts of data
  • Special Skills/Certifications: Candidates should have the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
 
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Communication Skills: Must be able to read, analyze, and apply common sense understanding and to carry out instructions in written or oral form and be able to set priorities.
  • Bi-lingual Skills: Preferred but not required
  • Technology: Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, SQL Server Management Studio, Python, Business Intelligence software

Work Environment: The work environment is representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The environment requires proximity to other employees, frequent interruptions, extended periods of time viewing a computer screen, and noise levels from moderate to high.  There may be activity from other employees and students of a distracting nature.

Starting Salary: $65,000
