Primary Purpose:
Assist Controller/Senior Director of Accounting and Director of Accounting with reconciliation of payroll and general ledger balance sheet accounts, financial analysis, financial statement preparation, financial audits and accounting system maintenance.

Physical Demands: Physical exertion to perform office work and support campus training. Sitting for extended periods of time, use of multiple monitors, the ability to file documents.
Work Environment: Travel required to various campus locations and/or training within the state of Texas. The work environment is representative of those an employee encounters while working in an office. The environment requires proximity to other employees, frequent interruptions, extended periods of time viewing a computer screen, and noise levels from moderate to high.
Starting Salary: $55,000

Primary Purpose:
Assist Controller/Senior Director of Accounting and Director of Accounting with reconciliation of payroll and general ledger balance sheet accounts, financial analysis, financial statement preparation, financial audits and accounting system maintenance.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for preparing monthly general ledger reports, reconciliation, and accounting period closing.
- Prepares journal entries and account reconciliations and documents these processes.
- Reviews and maintains general ledger accounts.
- Assists with the following: External audits, records research, special requests, and training.
- Assists in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Supports programs-related to Development, Grants, Federal Program, Budget, Payroll, Accounts Payable and other finance staff as needed. Provide training for campus and central departments.
- Maintains appropriate backup for accounting team as it relates to Cash management, Bond draws and payments, and financial reporting.
- Ensures accounting records follow federal EDGAR requirements.
- Prepares documentation of grant expenses, including invoices, check requests, and payroll records.
- Assist Controller/Senior Director of Accounting and Director of Accounting as needed.
- Assist with interim reporting including quarterly financial statements and annual audits.
- Assist with new accounting system implementations incorporating appropriate accounting standards.
Education, Experience, and/or Certification(s)
- Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Business preferred.
- Experience Requirements: Minimum 3 years’ working experience in accounting. Experience in K12 school business preferred but not required.
- Special Skills/Certifications: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including advanced features of Excel, possess the ability to use basic office equipment and the ability to learn and use other software as necessary. Mathematical skills to prepare and analyze financial data. To include the ability to calculate and create amortization schedule, interest, and reconciliations.

- Communication Skills: Effective oral and written communication skills with excellent reading comprehension. An individual must possess the ability to problem solve in a variety of situations.
