Primary Purpose:
The Career Connected Learning Counselor will create meaningful opportunities for UpliftMighty  scholars to connect classroom learning to career development. The CCL Counselor assists in the development of experiential learning opportunities that impact curricular, career exploration at Uplift Mighty. This role manages the integration of career exploration experiences in Road to College & Career courses, supports the connection of career-based experiences within IB, and manages the integration of Road to College & Career programming at the high school. Through strengthening the connection of career exploration to the classroom experience, the CCL Counselor will increase early engagement and adoption of Uplift’s college & career-bound culture.
 
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Manage and support Uplift’s career exploration programming that impacts classroom experiences within RTCC courses and CTE courses.
  • Create a school-wide initiative to connect career development and employer-desired career competencies to the classroom through IB Learner Traits and NACE’s Career Competencies.
  • Works with campus staff, faculty and CMO RTCC team to ensure that every student in every high school grade level is participating in available college and career-related activities when possible, including but not limited to, summer programs and talent identification programs
  • Develop a coordinated and consistent plan for career exposure at the high school level that includes opportunities for scholars to explore and experience careers through classroom speakers, field trips, career fairs, etc.
  • Manage and lead career-based enrichment opportunities during Uplift’s summer school.
  • Identify best practices, both internal and external, for bringing careers into the classroom and facilitate professional development for teachers and staff.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Career Exploration & Experience to connect signature RTCC career programming (Career Week, Career Trips, Internships) to the classroom experience at a specific high school.
Qualifications:
Education, Experience, and/or Certification(s)
  • Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree required; Masters’ degree preferred; Relevant work experience may be substituted for the degree preference.
 
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Bilingual Skills: Preferred, but not required
  • Technology: Able to use Microsoft Suite and any program related technology with a high level of fluency
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit and use the wrists, hands and/or fingers. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. 
 
Work Environment: Work at a desk and computer screen for extended periods of time. Occasional district-wide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
