Electrician will be responsible for overall management, maintenance, and modification of the electrical systems at all Uplift campuses, maintaining data on required inspections, maintenance and other facility reports necessary to meet regulatory requirements.

Primary Purpose:
Electrician will be responsible for overall management, maintenance, and modification of the electrical systems at all Uplift campuses, maintaining data on required inspections, maintenance and other facility reports necessary to meet regulatory requirements.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Ensuring the safety of all campus staff and scholars
- Removing or correcting potentially unsafe conditions
- Reporting unsafe practices to campus leadership and supervisor
- Ensure all buildings meet city, state and federal regulations
- Report any safety concerns or maintenance issues to supervisor immediately or as appropriate
Ensure that all campus facilities and grounds are properly maintained
- Perform minor to moderate electrical maintenance including, but not limited to, replacement or repair of electrical fixtures (wall switches, outlets, bulbs, ballasts, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, circuit breakers), install and repair wiring, power equipment, and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints
- Inspect buildings and other structures to determine functionality, detect malfunctions and perform needed repair
- Install and repair control and distribution apparatus including motors, relays, switches, circuit breaker panels, etc.
- Install and connect power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment using appropriate testing instruments and equipment
- Test continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components using appropriate testing instruments and equipment
- Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit using rulers, measuring devices, hand tools, pipe threading tool, and conduit bender
- Repair or recommend replacement of electrical appliances, including commercial ovens, ranges, steam tables, washers, dryers, etc.
- Maintain and update blue prints, schematics and reference material
- Select material, hardware and job hours to calculate job estimates
- Track material, hardware and job hours in order to create work order tickets showing cost
- Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean
Equipment and supplies
- Properly use and maintain equipment such as aerial lifts, trenchers, mini-excavators and hand tools
- Keep equipment clean, organized and serviceable at all times
- Perform maintenance and repair on equipment
- Maintain a service stock of electrical supplies and material and re-order as needed using the established purchasing procedure
- Transport equipment to different campuses as needed
Driving responsibilities
- Drive company assigned vehicle and follow company policies related to driving
- Maintain vehicle clean and organized
- Take vehicle to maintenance shop when maintenance is due and ensure vehicle documents are up to date
- Report vehicle maintenance issues promptly
Other duties
- Research and stay up to date on procedures, studies, products, and equipment related to the electrical trade
- Provide recommendations and make suggestions to increase operational efficiency or safety
- Provide emergency assistance in response to floods, sewage back-ups, vandalism, or other incidents
- Oversee after-hours and weekend on-call maintenance service as requested
- Report receipts and expenditures to the accounting department, Network Facilities Manager, and the Facilities Director
- Use a computer-based ticketing system to track service and repair orders
- Communicate daily to supervisor via phone, e-mail and/or text messages
Education, Experience, and/or Certification(s)
- Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Experience Requirements: A minimum of two years of experience maintaining or constructing commercial buildings and/or industrial equipment.
- Special Skills/Certifications: A valid Journeyman Electrician License (or above) issued by the State of Texas is required. Employee may be required to provide documentation for logging 8,000 hours of commercial on the job training under the direct supervision of a master electrician. Maintaining this license will be required for continued employment in this position.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Communication Skills: Ability to receive and understand verbal and written instructions in English, ability to receive or convey technical and complicated concepts, ability to read and understand technical manuals and instructions.
- Bilingual Skills: No bilingual skills are required. Spanish speaking skills are a plus but not required.
- Driving Skills: This position requires driving an assigned vehicle on a daily basis. Applicant must posses and maintain a valid Class C driver’s license and have a clean driving record. Applicant must be comfortable driving a large cargo van and/or large truck with a service body and have the ability to pass yearly driver training.
- Technology: To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess basic to intermediate ability to learn and use computer software, possess basic typing speed (~15 WPM), and possess a basic understanding and use of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Word). Applicant must also be able to use a smart phone to send and receive photos and text messages and have an intermediate understanding of how to use Android based apps.
- Work Ethic: This position will may not have daily face-to-face interaction with their direct supervisor. In order to perform this job successfully, an individual must possess higher than usual “self-starter” mentality and the ability to perform tasks without direct supervision or specific instructions.
