Primary Purpose:
The Manager of Health Care Careers will oversee the creation, administration, development, and organization of Uplift’s newest opportunity for our alumni as we create healthcare certification programs of study. Within this program, Uplift alumni will be able to take classes that move them towards high-need, healthcare careers. The Director will oversee the overall administration of the program, as well as the development of career pathways that range from CNA to the broad range of healthcare opportunities that exist. Additionally, the Manager will provide targeted career coaching for Uplift alumni be responsible for “matching” alumni in job placement opportunities and ensuring they successfully complete their course of study.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Manage projects on behalf of Uplift’s Alumni Career Services Team from concept to implementation, including project scope, tracking and people management.
  • Works in conjunction with other Uplift and Road to College and Career team members to align to broader Uplift and RTCC career strategies and supports.
  • Maintain effective partnerships that lead to a program defined by high levels of efficacy, which includes high levels of employment and placement of all alumni participants into living wage careers; development of indicators of success to determine quality of program and services in support of Uplift alumni.
  • Integrates knowledge of industry trends and professional training to continuously improve program quality and coordinates corrections from faculty responsible for teaching specific units/sections.
  • Usage of appropriate tools and resources to promote employment opportunities in line with market trends and desired alumni healthcare career outcomes.
  • Maintains school records in compliance with Texas State Boards and college regulations; prepares reports as required.
  • Effective alumni recruitment practices such as managing social media presence (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.), marketing and other relevant strategies to increase engagement and attract/recruit talent.
  • Create a unique and personalized coaching strategy based on the alum’s needs (HS grad, college student, college graduate).
  • Provide career services such as but not limited to résumé writing, cover letter writing, LinkedIn consultations, interview preparation, healthcare career exploration.
  • Effectively build and maintain relationships with potential industry partners to provide sustainable career experiences (Career panels, Career trips, Internships, Workshops, etc.) for Uplift scholars and alumni.                                                                                                                                                                          
  • Work closely with the RTCC team on the campus and at CMO to coordinate and facilitate various informational career-centered workshops and training for parents, scholars, and staff
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of career programming and analyze existing alumni career outcomes through using KPIs and other appropriate metrics.
  • Support RTCC initiatives through event planning and facilitation and participating in various committees.

Education, Experience, and/or Certification(s)
  • Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree required and Masters’ degree preferred; Relevant work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  •  Experience Requirements:  Previous experience working in a healthcare career highly preferred. Successful work with teens and young adults highly desirable. Previous career coaching experience highly preferred. 
  • Special Skills/Certifications: People skills, adaptability, critical thinking, growth mindset, collaboration, creativity, timeliness, resourcefulness
 
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Communication Skills: Strong analytical, communication and writing skills
  • Bilingual Skills: Preferred, but not required.
  • Technology: Able to use Microsoft and G-Suite and any program related technology with a high level of proficiency (ie. Canva, Asana, Qualtrics)

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit and use the wrists, hands and/or fingers. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work at a desk and computer screen for extended periods of time.
 
Work Environment: Some district-wide travel required.  Occasional prolonged and irregular hours required.

Starting Salary: $65,000
