Primary Purpose:

The resident typically provides both instructional and non-instructional support to a specific grade level/content area teachers in instruction, lesson planning, and differentiation. Assist teachers in the development and follow-through of individual student intervention plans based on data and design systems to support learning gaps and struggling learners.  

NOTE: This position is only available for those staff members that are part of the Relay Graduate School of Education partnership.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Performance Responsibilities 

  • Serves as the second teacher in a general education classroom  (this role cannot serve as the teacher of record) 

  • Supports identified students who are at-risk and communicates progress of interventions to teachers and administration.

  • Meets with grade level / content teams to design solutions for student growth and achievement

  • Provides regular small group instruction for at-risk identified students on an ongoing basis.

  • Monitors and modifies at-risk program interventions based on data and evaluation in conjunction with adjunct staff from Relay Graduate School of Education and campus leadership team.

  • Abides by all state and federal mandates in reporting sexual or physical abuse and neglect

  • Upholds and models the code of conduct and all school policies

  • Supports and follows directives of campus administrators

  • Ability to maintain accurate Time & Effort records of program activities

  • Other duties may be assigned

  • Works closely with Resident Advisor Teacher to obtain feedback/coaching and implements the feedback
     

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A./ B.S.) from four-year college or university required. Experience in tutoring or teaching skills highly desirable. Proven results of successful teaching. Spanish speaking, a plus. Must be enrolled in the Relay Graduate School of Education Residency Program.
